Ban Cluster Bombs

Cluster bombs are containers that can hold up to 600 explosive devices inside. Once launched, they open and disperse indiscriminately, razing large tracts of land to supposedly destroy enemies. But these bombs operate without distinguishing between civilian and military targets. Its shrapnel causes very serious injuries to the civilian population, such as the loss of limbs, or even death.

The Spanish State produced and stored cluster bombs. The Stop Cluster Munition campaign, promoted by the Cluster Munition Coalition, achieved, after 100 governments approved during the 2008 conferences in Dublin an international treaty to prohibit cluster bombs, that the Spanish government committed to destroy the 5,600 that it had stored to the arsenal of the Spanish Armed Forces and not produce more.
