Projects driven by AIPAZ:

  • Consultancy to promote the principle of Cities and Territories of Peace and the process for global dialogues on territorial and urban violence. To help promote and strengthen inclusive and peaceful territories and cities within the framework of the 2030 Agenda. This project, seconded by UNDP, is carried out jointly with the DEMOSPAZ Institute. The project will develop a Local Agenda for Peace and Coexistence: Diagnosis and Action Plan, in various cities and/or territories.
  • Development of a methodological proposal followed by the elaboration of a “Local Agenda for Peace and Coexistence: Diagnosis and Local Action Plan” in the city of Granollers, which will later be worked out with the municipalities of different territories of the Spanish State, both in the World Network of Mayors for Peace and other stakeholders.

Projects driven by the Centre Delàs d’Estudis per la Pau:

  • Advice for the construction of a diagnosis of Peace in the city of Sant Cugat 2022 (project developed with the support of the Sant Cugat del Vallès City Hall).
  • Presentation of the Local Peace Agendas to town councils, carried out with: Sant Cugat del Vallès, Sant Boi del Llobregat, Terrassa, Manresa, Santa Coloma de Gramenet (project developed with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council).

1) CGLU – United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG)

The World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments welcomes you to the largest organization of local and regional governments in the world. Through collaboration, dialogue, cooperation, and knowledge sharing, we, as a World Organization, work to promote global response and action through innovative commitments and agreements that become common threads that transcend borders. and the communities, to elevate and give power to the ambit.

This Peace Prize celebrates successful local government business initiatives and encourage others to follow suit. In addition, it will generate international public attention for the role that local governments play in ensuring sustainable peaceful development.

2) PNUD Sustainable cities and communities

Goal 11: Make cities more inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.

The world is becoming more and more urbanized. Since 2007, more than half of the world’s population has been living in cities, and this number is expected to rise to 60% by 2030.

Cities and metropolitan areas are nerve centres of economic growth, as they contribute to approximately 60% of global GDP. However, they also account for about 70% of global emissions and more than 60% of resource use.

Rapid urbanization is resulting in an increasing number of people living in poor neighbourhoods, inadequate and overburdened infrastructure, and services (such as waste collection and water and sanitation systems, roads, and transportation), which is worsening air pollution and uncontrolled urban growth.

3) Cities Defending Human Rights

The network of Cities Defending Human Rights works to make visible and accompany the work of human rights defenders and denounce the persecution they suffer through education, awareness-raising and political and social advocacy with the aim of improving knowledge, promoting and the defence of human rights.

4) AICE International Association of Educating Cities

Founded in 1994, the International Association of Educating Cities (AICE) is a non-profit association, constituted as a permanent structure for collaboration between local governments committed to the Charter of Educating Cities, which is the roadmap for the cities that comprise it. Any local government that accepts this commitment can become an active member of the Association, regardless of its administrative powers. With the closing of the financial year in 2019, the number of members rose to 494 cities in 36 countries on all continents.
