Global Days of Action on Military Spending (GDAMS) will take place from April 10 to May 9

This year’s Global Days of Action on Military Spending (GDAMS) will take place from April 10 to May 9. This special period of actions is part of the International Peace Bureau’s (IPB) campaign coordinated by the Delàs Centre, which aims to demand major reductions in global military spending and the redirection of these public funds to address real human needs and tackle the climate crisis.

GDAMS 2020 will include key actions for the Tax Day in the US; the World Congress in New York from 24-26 April on the occasion of the review of the Non-Proliferation Treaty; press conferences around the world (including one in Barcelona) to analyse the new military spending data published by SIPRI on the 29th of April; actions on the 1st of May in favour of cuts in military budgets and for a conversion of the military industry to the civil sector; and finally, actions on the 9th of May (Europe Day) to call for the demilitarisation of the EU.

This year it is expected to exceed more than 100 actions that took place in 27 countries in 2019, including protests, marches and information stands, talks and workshops or advocacy actions.
