Report by the Delàs Centre, Fundació Novessendes and Setem Comunitat Valenciana: “From Armed Banking to Ethical Banking. Towards policy coherence and a culture of peace. The case of the Generalitat Valenciana”

The report “From Armed Banking to Ethical Banking. Towards Policy Coherence and a Culture of Peace. The case of the Generalitat Valenciana” aims to identify the financial reality of the main Valencian public administration, the Generalitat Valenciana, and the possibility of achieving a transition towards greater involvement in ethical finances. All of this is within the framework of this administration’s measures for policy coherence and the promotion of the social and solidarity economy. In this study we asked ourselves if the Generalitat Valenciana allows the financial management of its main activities that require a bank to fall into the hands of financial entities that can have negative impacts on peace and human rights through their investments. The case of the financing of the military industry is a good example of this possible policy incoherence.

Commissioned by the Novessendes Foundation and Setem Comunidad Valenciana, this report has been produced following the working methodology set up by the Centre Delàs de Estudis per la Pau and Setem Catalunya, as experts in the financing of the arms industry and promoters and coordinators of the Banca Armada campaign since its creation in 2006.
