Report 47: “Militarism and environmental crisis. A necessary reflection”
The report “Militarism and environmental crisis. A necessary reflection”, is the first publication by researchers of Centre Delàs d’Estudis per la Pau and aims, from a critical approach and a human security perspective, to address the problem of climate crisis and its links with militarism. Thus, it studies how militarism is one of the relevant causes of global warming and environmental damage observed around the planet. The research seeks to explain how, from a national security and military perspective, militarism is the consequence and current response to this crisis. In this sense, it intends to provide proposals for a successful ecological transition, which necessarily implies an environmental peace approach and a shift of military expenditures and funds towards the financing of security policies for peace, in order to develop mitigation policies for the effects of the climate crisis.
